It had only been a couple months,
Since dear Irene had died,
When Millie was sitting at a stop,
With her husband Lloyd at her side.
Moving forward was her intention,
Once it was clear to proceed,
But her pump did make the full stop,
And from her foot the break was freed.
Advancing into the double way,
Abruptly another car to meet.
No bowing, shaking hands or niceties,
Between the cars in the middle of the street.
Lloyd was sent to the nearest care,
Though Millie had already departed,
A week went by when he woke to the news,
And shortly died broken hearted.
