Submissions

Counterpoint Online welcomes submissions of previously unpublished poems, short stories, flash fiction, and creative non-fiction from current Wingate students and faculty as well as Wingate alums. We also accept previously published pieces with proof of permission from the publisher.

All submissions should be attached in a separate word document (for each category) via email to counterpoint.online@wingate.edu. Ensure each word document is labeled with the author’s last name and the name of the category to which he or she is submitting.

Please format submission(s) to 12 point Times New Roman or similar font, doubled spaced, with 1 inch margins. The document should include a cover page listing the author’s name, email, phone number, preferred method of contact, and year of graduation (if applicable).

 

Poetry

Poetry submissions should consist of no more than five poems. There is no maximum or minimum length. They may all be in a single word document, but please have each poem start on a new page.

 

Short Stories

Short story submissions should consist of no more than 5,000 words. We accept short stories of any genre, although we ask it be free of gratuitous sex and/or violence. Novel excerpts are accepted, provided they work as a standalone piece and are either unpublished or are submitted with permission from the original publisher.

Only one submission in this category is allowed.

 

Flash Fiction

Flash fiction submissions should consist of no more than 1,000 words. We accept short stories of any genre, although we ask it be free of gratuitous sex and/or violence. Novel excerpts are accepted, provided they work as a standalone piece and are either unpublished or are submitted with permission from the original publisher.

Only one submission in this category is allowed.

 

Non-fiction

Non-fiction submissions should consist of no more than 5,000 words. We welcome submissions in personal essay, memoir, and experimental nonfiction.
